Rose Geranium
Rose geraniums were used in perfumery and herbal medicine making in ancient Egypt and Greece, as well as for treating wounds such as cuts and abrasions and skin infections. South Africa is its main production area. Because it can grow in poor environments and is extremely resilient, it was introduced to Europe and widely used during the era of trade and maritime power.
Rose geranium leaves contain rose ether, which gives them a clear rose scent that is not too sweet. They are known as the "commoner's rose" and are a flower that is very gentle on women.
